Land Acknowledgment

YMCA of the North adventure centers respectfully acknowledges that we are on the appropriated homelands of Indigenous peoples. We recognize the perseverance and survival of Indigenous communities, who continue to live throughout this region. Each adventure center is working to build sustainable relationships with our Indigenous communities and endeavor to be responsible stewards of the sacred nature of their homelands. This land acknowledgment is one of the ways in which we work to educate our adventure center communities about this land and our relationships with it and each other.

Accreditation

YMCA adventure centers are accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA) and are visited every three years to ensure compliance with the ACA standards. This assures you that adventure center practices have been measured against 175 national standards that go beyond our state's basic licensing requirements. ACA-accredited camps voluntarily undergo a rigorous risk-management process to provide a supervised, positive environment with controlled boundaries where children can grow.

Community Input

A Community Advisory Board supports every YMCA adventure center. Each board comprises committed individuals passionate about the YMCA mission and adventure center programming.

While programming and operations are determined by YMCA of the North, our community boards are committed to being a diverse and inclusive community that helps advise, advocate, and support each location's strategic direction and mission delivery.
