Hispanic Heritage Month from mid-September to mid-October celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Hispanic-Americans whose ancestors came from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The countless contributions made by Hispanic-Americans to our communities and country over the years are incredible and inspiring and this is a wonderful time for all of us to recognize them.
This year’s theme is Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope. This theme was chosen to “celebrate Hispanic Heritage and to reflect on how great our tomorrow can be if we hold onto our resilience and hope. It encourages us to reflect on all of the contributions Hispanics have made in the past, and will continue to make in the future. It is also a reminder that we are stronger together.” The opportunity to learn more about our neighbors and the beautiful tapestry of the cultures in our community is an exciting part our equity work.
