  • Spend analysis—that reviews your highest spending areas and recommends actionable changes to reduce costs and use products/services more efficiently
  • Best-practices assessment—that reviews your existing accounting process and recommends changes to reduce time, ensure checks and balances, increase credibility for controlling expenses and more.

If you choose not to join YMCA Purchasing Services, the spend analysis and best-practices assessment are also available on a consulting-only basis.

Greg Waibel

Greg Waibel is the chief operating officer for the YMCA of the North, a leading nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

He is responsible for providing strategic direction and operational oversight for 28 Y locations and program sites, seven overnight camps, 10 day camps and more than 90 child care sites that engage nearly a quarter million men, women and children of all ages, incomes and backgrounds. He has previously served as chief financial officer for the Y.

Prior to joining the Y, Greg served as general manager for South American operations for Becker Underwood, president for the seed enhancements division of Land O’Lakes, and public accountant at Arthur Andersen and KPMG Peat Marwick.

Greg holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of St. Thomas and an MBA in finance and strategic management from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He received the CFO of the Year Award from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal in 2009 and 2013.

Heidi Murphy

Director of Purchasing Heidi Murphy is responsible for developing and administering purchasing policy and annual goals and objectives designed to achieve credible stewardship of the Associations’ collective buying power with over $50M in budget. Heidi is a Certified Purchasing Manager and assists YMCAs nationwide with developing foundations for supply and supplier management.

Heidi joined the YMCA in August 2006 from Target Corporation where she was responsible for managing a variety of technology supplier relationships protecting the company from risk and cutting cost over $10M in less than two years. Prior to that, she served as the technology scouring manager for Deluxe Corporation, where she was instrumental in reducing cost of the companies' merger and acquisitions over seven years, saving over $15M in the technology department.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in management and associate’s degree in supervision from Purdue University, and a master’s degree in administration from Capella University. She also holds a master’s certificate in business analysis from Auburn University and is a Department of Defense Contracting Manager.
