Robin Hedrick has been working in the health and wellness field for over 30 years. She started her career as both a nationally certified group exercise instructor and personal trainer while gaining her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Master’s Degree in Sport Management at the University of MN. She began her health and wellness management career in the for profit sector and then transitioned to the non-profit setting, working at the YWCA in St Paul. She began working for the YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis in 1996 and was hired to open the new Emma B Howe Family YMCA in Coon Rapids as the Fitness Director.
Robin joined the YMCA of the North Association Healthy Living team in 2002 as the Director of Health and Wellness and supported a variety of health and wellness programs and services including Group Exercise, Personal Training, Aquatics, Older Adult programs, and developed the Healthy Kids initiative. She was also a YUSA trainer, certifying team members to teach Group Exercise.
In her current role, Robin serves as the Director of Community Health and oversees all evidence-based chronic disease programs and directly supervises the Diabetes Prevention program, a nationally recognized CDC program. In addition, Robin supports a Youth Wellness initiative and provides support for the ForeverWell programs Twin Cities wide.
After conventional medicine alone was not enough to manage a lifelong autoimmune condition, she turned to a more integrative approach to health that included diet, stress management, mindfulness, and physical activity. Robin has reversed many of her health challenges through these lifestyle changes and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with others.
