Because we know staff is the most important part of a camp experience, we take great care to hire and train qualified, enthusiastic staff. We look for leadership skills, prior experience working with children, decision-making capabilities, respect for the environment and safety awareness.
Our year-round staff includes an executive director, program director, administrative coordinator and site manager. During the summer, we bring in high school, college and graduate students as counselors and specialists.
All staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid. Waterfront specialists are certified lifeguards, and as required, others are certified as an EMT, First Responder or have been trained in Wilderness First Aid.

Cheri Keepers is a relational and strategic leader with a lifelong connection to the YMCA of the North and a deep belief in the transformative power of camp. As Executive Director of YMCA Camp Warren, Cheri is passionate about creating experiences that help young people discover their strengths, build meaningful relationships, and grow into their fullest potential. Throughout her career, Cheri has focused on developing people, strengthening organizations, and building thoughtful strategies for sustainable growth. She brings a leadership style grounded in relationships, purpose, and the belief that the strongest organizations are built when people feel valued, connected, and inspired by a shared mission. Cheri is energized by bringing people together around a common vision and creating the conditions for individuals and teams to thrive. For her, there is something special about the shared experience of working toward a meaningful goal—and the pride that comes from crossing the finish line together, knowing the work made a difference. Sophia has been a part of the Warren community for 16 years and is now bringing her love and knowledge of camp to the Program Director role! She is a graduate-level psychology student and has most recently worked leading psychoeducation and therapeutic groups for children. At Camp Warren, she has previously held positions of Youth Advocate and Program Coordinator, as well as creating and managing programming during our Fall/Winter/Spring seasons. Sophia specializes in problem-solving and building programs that cultivate growth and development. She values deep listening and understanding, as well as the belief that we all can excel when we are given the right tools. In her free time, she loves to hike, knit, and enjoys spending time with her friends and family!

I joined the Camp Warren Team as the Administrative Coordinator in 2021 - although I am no stranger to YMCA Camps. I started my Y Camping journey at Camp St. Croix in 2005 and have worked for a variety of camps and programs since. Through my time working with Y programming, I am always excited to help families get outside for play and adventure. I am happy to help answer any questions related to summer programming, or if you are interested in visiting Camp Warren in the fall, winter, or spring.
