About

Located at beautiful Lake Kingsley in Lakeville, campers ages 4 through 15 engage in small-group structured activities with other campers in their age group. They learn new skills and build self-esteem while being guided by the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and equity.

Your child can have an amazing outdoor experience this summer and sleep at home, too. Outdoor fun and adventures abound at YMCA Camp Streefland. Campers’ weeks are chock full of exciting, structured activities sure to interest both new and returning campers. And we've expanded our bus stops so more kids can join in the fun.

Facilities and General Programming

Amenities: Streefland has limited access to running water and therefore availability of flushing toilets. Campers should be prepared to use the port-a-potties on site. Access to water coolers and well pumps are no more than a 5 minute walk from anywhere around camp.

Aquatics: We will try our best to get every camper in our heated swimming pool every single day. There is no swimming in Lake Kingsley. Additional Aquatic Activities such as a Slip n’ Slide will be available on hot days.

Challenge Course: These elements include our Rock Wall, High Ropes Course, Leap of Faith and Giant Swing. Typically only older campers (3rd grade and above) use these elements. Only qualified and trained specialty staff facilitate these programs for campers.

Outdoor Sports: Most campers will participate in Archery and Canoeing at least once throughout the week. Fishing is designated only for certain specialty camps and occurs off site.

Outdoor Games: Camp Streefland has a total of 3 GaGa Pits, 9-Square in the Air, Human Fooseball and several Low Ropes Team Building elements. These are all Traditional Day Camp staples with flexibility in play style and rules that can entertain the very competitive AND the more casual camper.

Miscellaneous:

  • Black Hole Slide - This ultra-huge tube slide runs down a large hill and kids take their turn for a fast and thrilling ride on a plastic snow sled that zips through the tube down to the base of the hill.
  • Wee-Bee Village – A large natural play scape with it’s own miniature GaGa pit, Black Hole Slide and a Zip traverse! You can find most of our youngest campers playing and exploring here.
  • Adventure Island – A sanctuary for our older campers and a place where they can claim their own adventures away from their younger counterparts! Adventure Island has it’s own Archery Range and Tomahawk station and is where our L.I.T.’s camp at their overnight.

Scholarships

We provide needs-based scholarships called Personal Pricing Plans to make camp more affordable. We take several factors - annual income, the number of adults in your home, and the number of dependents - and use them to determine your fee. Learn more about scholarships
