This program develops valuable life skills such as open communication, team building, cooperation, and conflict resolution. Participants will go on at least one field trip to Camp Gathering Pines each week and participate in challenges with teen groups on-site.

Discover your leadership qualities by learning to lead campers in activities and assist in planning the week for your group! The second week allows you to put those new skills to the test while you shadow a counselor and assist staff in camp activities. LITs will have the opportunity to camp overnight in tents (weather allowing, campers will stay indoors in cases of bad weather) on the third night of their second week at camp and have a cookout dinner with their camp group and counselors.

Junior Counselor

Do you love working with kids in a camp setting? Here’s your chance to take a leadership role! Junior Counselors are assigned to a group and assist the Senior Counselors in leading and carrying out a variety of Day Camp programs. Junior Counselors help campers acquire feelings of high self-esteem, self-worth and competence in an outdoor setting. Previous experience in the LIT program or working with children is required. Candidates will be selected through an application and interview process. Contact the Day Camp director for more information: at streefland@ymcanorth.org.

Apply

A day camp lead staff member will reach out for an interview around mid-March to talk over details and information about the program. Hope to see you this summer!
