We are currently reevaluating our COVID-19 guidelines for 2023

Our 2022 guidelines are below

As we’re gearing up for another great summer, we continue to collaborate with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), American Camp Association (ACA), departments of health and camp experts for guidance.

Below you will find COVID-19 related protocol as of June 2022. This may change depending on the current level of community spread and changing guidance.

CAMPER PRE ARRIVAL
  • Y of the North strongly recommends that all eligible campers are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to the start of their camp session. Vaccinated campers will be asked to upload their vaccine card to CampDoc in the Health Profile section under Immunizations.
  • All campers regardless of vaccination status are asked to upload a negative COVID-19 test result taken 1-3 days prior to their start date. Test results can be uploaded to CampDoc in the Prescreen section. At home rapid antigen tests or PCR tests accepted. Molecular PCR test are preferred. Please date at home tests prior to upload.
  • Please contact Camp as soon as possible if you have a positive test result. We will work with families to review the circumstances and develop a response plan.

STAFF

Y of the North staff are expected to be fully vaccinated prior to the start of summer. For staff who are not fully vaccinated, weekly COVID-19 testing will be required.

TRANSPORTATION
  • We will continue to provide bus transportation to and from camp along with the option to drop off and pick up your camper from camp.
  • Campers and staff will be required to wear masks on the bus.
  • Fresh air will be circulated on the bus.
  • Any camper who travels by airplane needs to wear a mask regardless of CDC guidelines.
RESPONSE TO SYMPTOMATIC INDIVIDUALS
  • Rapid COVID-19 tests will be available in camp and on trail. If a camper develops COVID-like symptoms, testing for COVID-19 may be considered.
  • In the case of a positive test, we will follow isolation guidance from the CDC, consult with our administrative team and advising physician, and take appropriate action which may include early departure from camp or trail.
GENERAL HEALTH & SAFETY
  • As a general practice, campers and staff will follow the swiss cheese model of layered prevention practices by recommending vaccines, wearing masks, social distancing, avoiding crowds, and washing hands often.
  • Campers will be monitored for illness throughout their camp session.
  • Trail groups are small by design and much of the experience takes place outdoors.
  • Campers and staff will wear masks indoors in shared spaces to minimize exposure.
  • Our general trail standards have been developed to minimize risks including the spread of infectious diseases.
