Programs and Services
Service Matters
Veterans and military service members may receive a 15% discount and a $0 enrollment fee. Please visit your local YMCA with your military identification to get this discount added to your account.
Effective September 1, 2024: To qualify for this program, service members, Veterans, and families must provide a non-redacted copy of either a DD214, NGB22, Common Access Card or VA Member Card. This will automatically apply to their account and a one-time verification is all that is required. Memberships will renew annually as a Service Matters membership. No enrollment fee and no usage requirements apply.
YMOVE
In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA), the YMCA of the North provides a free 6-month membership to active military personnel participating in the Military Outreach Initiative (MOI) program.
To qualify for this program, military members and families must meet eligibility criteria for one of the program categories listed:
- Title 10 Status
- Active Duty Independent Duty Personnel (IDP)
- Unaccompanied Spouse/Family of Active Duty Service Members
- Unaccompanied Spouse/Family of Joint Deployed Guard and Reserve
- Community Based Warrior Transition Unit/Warrior Care Unit
- Department of Defense (DoD) Eligibility Form

If pre-approved by ASYMCA, you will receive an email from them. If not pre-approved, ASYMCA will email you with the reason why it wasn’t pre-approved and what is missing.

Military and Veteran Family Retreat
The YMCA Veteran Engagement department partners with Camps to provide our active military, qualifying Veterans, and their family members an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.
This weekend getaway at one of our family camps encourages peer support and military and veteran community building.
Veteran Kids to Camp
The YMCA Veteran Engagement Department partners with the Camping administration to extend day camp opportunities to our Military and Veterans service members.
This program aims to reinforce our support for Veterans and service members and provide their kids with leadership development opportunities.
Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood
This DoD and U.S. Coast Guard fee assistance program supports eligible families who cannot access military-operated child care due to distance or waitlists. Fee assistance covers a portion of community-based child care costs, making high-quality care more affordable. Enrollment includes all YMCA of the North child care programs for kids from birth through age 12, and families from all branches of military service may apply.
