A warm, fudgy, single-serve chocolate treat packed with protein and ready in minutes.
Ingredients (1 serving)
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp oat flour (or almond flour)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- 3 tbsp milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 egg or 3 tbsp unsweetened applesauce (egg-free option)
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- 1–2 tbsp mini chocolate chips (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for topping (optional, as pictured)
Instructions
1. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a microwave-safe mug, stir together: chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, oat flour, baking powder, and salt.
2. Add Wet Ingredients
Add the milk, egg (or applesauce), and maple syrup. Mix until smooth and no dry pockets remain.
If using chocolate chips, fold them in now.
3. Microwave
Heat for 45–75 seconds, depending on your microwave.
- Cake should rise and look set on top.
- Stop early if it begins to overflow.
- For a gooier center, reduce cook time slightly.
4. Finish & Serve
Dust with a light sprinkle of powdered sugar to match the look in the photo.
Enjoy warm with a spoon!
Tips for Best Results
- If your protein powder is whey-based, the cake will be fluffier; plant-based powders may produce a denser texture—add 1 extra tbsp milk if needed.
- Want it richer? Add a teaspoon of nut butter before microwaving.
- For extra moisture, stir in 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt.
