Thank you for your participation and community support of the Rochester Y.

Today I want to share with you an important update about your Y. The pandemic has affected the Rochester Y and other Ys across the country. Similar to organizations across the globe, our Ys need to transform in order to effectively and sustainably operate to meet the community’s needs.

Thank you for your program participation and community support of the Rochester Y as we provide wellbeing offerings across the local area.

We are excited about the incredible partnerships and innovative programs developed to meet the needs of our community—in convenient and accessible locations for all.

Let’s look at some of our highlights from the Rochester Y collaborating with local community leaders to identify gaps and fulfill community needs:

  • Delivering Virtual Y for University of Minnesota – Rochester students.
  • Providing UnlockIt! self-guided outdoor experiences with Olmstead County Parks and Recreation at Chester Woods and Oxbow Parks.
  • Launching YMCA Camp Oxbow, a day camp in partnership with Olmsted County Parks and Recreation.
  • Bringing Foreverwell  Sound Bowl Meditation program in partnership with Threshold Arts at the Chateau Theatre.
  • Partnering with Rochester Public Schools to offer the Leadership Academy, a program based on Teen Thrive curriculum in the middle and high schools.

We know that to best serve our community—collaboration is vital. As we further our partnerships with the entities above, we look forward to continuing to grow opportunities to partner with organizations in our community to make a difference in people’s lives.

Thank you for your support as we continue to explore how best to serve Rochester and surrounding communities with Y programs and services. Your Y is committed to meet you and your neighbors get help, support and care.

Best regards,

Glen Gunderson
