Minneapolis – In partnership with the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, the YMCA of the North, a leading nonprofit dedicated to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, is once again helping teens stay active, connected and supported this summer through Get Summer, a free summer membership program for teens entering grades 9–12 in fall 2026.
Registration opens May 26, with program access available June 1 through Aug. 31, 2026. Eligible teens will receive free access to 19 YMCA of the North locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area and Hudson, Wisconsin.
The program is open to teens entering grades 9-12 in fall 2026 who are not currently active YMCA members or who have not held a YMCA membership within the past 60 days. Parents and guardians can register teens online or at their local YMCA of the North branch.
Get Summer is designed to provide teens with safe, welcoming spaces where they can stay physically active, build healthy habits and strengthen social connections during the summer months. The program supports mental, physical and social wellbeing while helping remove barriers for families by offering no-cost access to YMCA facilities and programs.
“We know summer can be a critical time for teens to stay engaged, active and connected to their communities,” said Mark Dienhart, president and CEO of the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation. “By partnering with the YMCA of the North on Get Summer, we’re helping more young people access welcoming spaces, supportive relationships and opportunities that encourage wellbeing and personal growth.”
“At the YMCA, we’re committed to creating spaces where teens feel welcome, supported and empowered to explore their interests and build healthy routines,” said Glen Gunderson, president and CEO of the YMCA of the North. “Through Get Summer, teens can stay active, spend time with friends and access resources that help them thrive throughout the summer. We’re grateful for the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation’s partnership in making this program possible.”
Participants can take advantage of YMCA fitness centers, gyms, swimming pools, group exercise offerings and more throughout the summer at no cost.
