Inspiring young leaders
Through our leadership programs, the Y strives to ensure that every young person has an opportunity to envision and pursue a positive future. Building a strong foundation in leadership early in life encourages youth to take an active role in strengthening their communities as adults. Participants in our leadership programs can expect to make new friends, find the support they need and gain the confidence to challenge themselves.
Programming specifically for teens in middle and high school is designed to help you be healthy and active, build leadership skills and prepare you for the future.
Young people ages 14-24 already participating in YMCA programming can build on their natural strengths and gain job experience in safe and supportive internship experiences with this job-training initiative.
Our Boys Outdoor Leadership Development and Girls Outdoor Leadership Development (BOLD/GOLD) program gives kids ages 13-18 the opportunity to develop leadership skills through active participation outdoors, including a trip to the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota.
These hands-on experiences are designed to teach teens the skills, attributes and strategies that are important traits of exemplary leaders and counselors. Leadership skills learned at the Y can carry over to their schools, homes and communities.
