The Y offers lots of wellness activities for older adults, including virtual programs you can enjoy online and in-person options at the YMCA. Whichever option you choose, we look forward to seeing you!

Virtual programs

Staying active mentally, physically and spiritually is important for feeling your best. From anywhere with an internet connection, everyone is welcome to tap into the Y community with virtual programs. Virtual programs are conducted over the phone and online. Some classes use a web conferencing service called Zoom. Learn how to use Zoom

Live classes and social groups

Scheduled classes happen in real time and you can join in remotely using Zoom or Facebook Live. Engage your mind by learning about a new topic, or fostering a favorite hobby with free interest-based options like art, knitting, hiking and more. Connect with others online for free and fun social opportunities like Bingo, Bunko and trivia. Keep your body moving and your health a priority with fitness and wellbeing classes that are free for members, covering topics like:

George Wellbeing health and wellbeing coaching

Navigating healthy choices can be challenging to do on your own. Get guidance virtually by working one-on-one with a nationally board-certified coach—using web conferencing or the phone—to co-create a roadmap to navigate your wellbeing goals.

Wellness Check-ins

Active Y members will occasionally get a phone call from your ForeverWell Coordinator to see how you are doing. These are just a quick chance to catch up and talk about your current wellbeing.

The YMCA is working to gradually reopen locations around the greater Twin Cities. As locations open, here’s what you can plan on during a visit to the Y:

Exercise in the studio, pool and court

Limited Group Exercise classes are available. As always, these classes are free for Y members and there is no need to register ahead of time. Indoor and outdoor pools at Ys around the metro are open for lap swim only. And singles pickleball is available at select locations.
