Respectful Conversations in Schools™ (RCS) helps students have important, sometimes difficult, conversations while enhancing learning and improving classroom culture.

RCS is a structured, content-neutral discussion protocol that helps students reflect on and speak from their own experience, listening carefully to classmates, and asking questions of genuine interest to deepen empathy and understanding. The protocol works with students of all backgrounds, personalities, and achievement levels.

    Highlights

Teachers and students who have used RCS have reported the following outcomes:

    • Greater respect for and connection among diverse peers
    • Appreciating others’ lived experiences that are different than their own
    • Deeper engagement with academic content as students explore its relevance to their lives and communities
